Bee Pollen is truly a fascinating and miraculous substance. It is considered to be one of the single most nourishing and nutritionally complete substances on the planet. Pollen has a history as old as the flowers and the bees from whence it comes. Many ancient texts from vastly different cultures across the globe refer to the marvel of bee pollen, as well as other bee products. Bee Pollen is collected from the stamen of flowers by bees on their foraging journey and brought back to the hive where it is compacted into granules. One teaspoon full of pollen contains 2.5 billion grains of flower pollen.
So what does pollen have to offer? Indeed, laboratory analysis has repeatedly demonstrated that pollen has all the vitamins, minerals, amino acids, trace elements, and protein needed to sustain life. As a rich source of protein - much of which has been pre-digested by the bees - it is readily available to the body as free form amino acids.
The sophistication of pollen makes it unique as a food and medicine, with a very wide scope of application. Pollen is a wonderful tonic for building endurance and vitality overall - noticeably enhancing energy levels, and a firm staple for many Olympic level athletes. Its helpful for growing children, or when recovering from illness or debility. Bee Pollen enhances muscle growth, improves libido and fertility, has proven anti viral properties and powerful immune system support, increases mental capacity, is a blood tonic, balances blood sugar levels, lifts mood and has demonstrated protection against radiation & chemical toxicity. Bee Pollen is also complete with living enzymes considered so vital for assimilation of nutrients and true health overall. Being made from flowers, it is a helpful antidote to the sensitivity of springtime allergies so common to many, and yet remarkably - almost always safe for those usually hypersensitive to bee products or bee stings.
Bee pollen is delicious to eat, and there is a remarkable diversity of subtle differences in flavour and scent to enjoy depending upon the type of flower and region from which it is sourced. There are some different types of bee pollen available some freeze dried, some fresh.
Fresh pollen is best stored in the fridge for longevity especially to preserve the living enzyme content. Many simply enjoy eating pollen straight from the spoon, but it can be added to trail mix, or mixed in a smoothie or juice, and its tangy sweet flavour makes it a brilliant sprinkle for dessert treats. As such a concentrated food, only very small amounts are needed. Start with a quarter of a teaspoon and slowly graduate to higher doses. If any sensitivity is suspected simply start by testing one grain. It's amazing to consider just how hard a bee has worked to create your pollen. 6 grams requires one bee, working 8 hours a day, an entire month to gather! Bee Pollen - a super concentrated nutritional rocket fuel with an ancient history. A versatile and sophisticated gift of nature offering an ancient foundation for creating modern well being.

"We put a trap on the entrance of a hive and as the bees enter it scrapes most of the pollen off the legs of the bees . Plenty of Pollen still gets into the hive for the bees. We check regularly on the hives as it is in our interests to have good strong healthy hives. Pollen is only taken when there is a very large surplus coming into the hive. We usually only trap pollen for about 12 weeks of the year . Beekeepers do not abuse their hives as this is their living and many beekeepers believe trapping pollen is positive to the overall health and wellbeing of the hive during the year."
